Brunswick, route 24 to Washington Ave. Park
at the church (be respectful of the neighbours).
Walk to Ocean Street, take trail along top of
cliff to a sign marked "stairs". This
is a very cool walk. The surf pounds at the base
of these huge rocks ~ imagine stairs a giant would
use to step down to the sea in the late afternoon.
The light is great for photographing and it is
exhilarating to see this perspective from the
cliffs to the sea & beyond to the many reaches
and islands of this region. |

Route 209 to land's end.
A quick & scenic drive from Highway 1 ~ a
fun place to spend an entire day ~ dawn to dusk.
Beachcombing, long walks on sandy beaches (3 miles!)
~ even some great tidepooling & a wonderful
assortment of shore birds. You can eventake a
short hike to see all the forts of popham. Bring
your hat & you may also need a sweater. Plenty
of film is a must! |

Route 130 to land's end.
A beautiful drive down the reach ~ enjoy the farms
& rolling hillsides, as well as the numerous
ponds. When you reach the end of the road, you
are there. The lighthouse, it rises out of the
rocks & the light shines brightly, warning
ships of this very rugged & rocky coast. The
rocks slide almost horizontally into the water
~ low tide allows great tidepooling & exploring.
Be very careful of a rogue wave sweeping you or
a loved one into the sea ~ this does happen, every
year. At sunset, the light is virtually bouncing
off of the rocks, sky & sea, bathing everything
in a golden glow ~ turning to a most exquisite
periwinkle as day slips into night. A breathtaking
piece of the Maine Coast. |

Rambling,
walking or strolling, it is the best way to feel at
one with wherever you are.
Take time to smell the trees, flowers and fresh air.
Feel the spongy pine forest, dirt path
or city sidewalk underfoot. Always take your camera;
with no car to park,
the world is your oyster! Play skip, laugh and have
fun..
You will feel energized and filled with
new thoughts and ideas.

Route 1, Camden to Route 52. Mount. Battie
Trail is a good aerobic walk with expansive views
of the Camden Hills, onto the Penobscot Bay &
the many islands ~ on a sunny summer day you can
count many sailboats. The water, a true navy blue,
is often sparkling in the sunshine, brighter than
a jewel-encrusted window at Tiffany's. You will
enjoy the hike back down this small mountain and
feel on top of the world. |

Salt Pond
Route 32 just north of New Harbor. Park streetside.
Here's a funny place: at high tide, it does not
exist! It appears at low tide ~ the sea leaves
behind its bounty ~ a natural salt pond brimming
with all varieties of sea life. Starfish, mollusks,
fishies, even a crab or two... It is too shallow
for lobsters, so no free lunch here! Remember,
take only photographs & memories, as this
site is protected. Be respectful of all the little
creatures & sign the register at the trail
head, so the Nature Conservancy can keep track
of the visitation. The rocks can be mossy &
slippery, so wear tennis shoes with lots of tooth
& remember they may get wet, a small price
to pay for all this extraordinary beauty. |

Rt. 24 to Cundy's Harbor Rd., to lands end.
This is a fun little ramble ~ a picturesque fishing
village ~ old Maine personified ~ a true working
harbor. There is also a little pond & often
times you can see the heron fishing. It is fun
to be here at low tide & walk out on the docks.
Bring a hat & plan on having lunch at one
of the great little dockside restaurants. |

Main
Street, Wiscasset
A fun city walk is Main Street. Many wonderful shops,
antique stores, and our favourite, ' TREATS ', a small
upscale grocery store, purveyors of great wines, locally
grown herbs, breads & the ultimate of all goat cheeses
~ stock up for a picnic at the nearby Popham Beach or
Reid State Park.
